About Us

Camp Mauka is a ministry of Calvary Chapel Kauai and Kauai Bible College. In the Fall and Spring we host Bible College students from all around the world. During the Summer we reach out to youth engaging them through VBS, Summer Camps and other forms of ministry. All camps are hosted on Calvary Chapel Kauai’s 66 acre property above Kapaa town. It is our mission to see kids saved and discipled in biblical truth. Each camp is bathed in prayer and made possible by many church volunteers and Bible College staff.

Camp Director:

Steven Jones
Steve has been on the island since 2009 and is the youth group pastor of Calvary Chapel Kauai. He is married to Marilyn and has a heart to teach the Word of God, disciple young people and share the gospel of Jesus Christ. Steve loves working with youth and college age students.

Camp Mauka Summer Staff:

Curtis Zeigler

Curtis Zeigler found his way out to the island and graduated from Kauai Bible College in 2009. Curtis is usually in charge of the everyday affairs of the men on campus when Bible College is in session. Curtis will be helping out with Camp Mauka this summer as a counselor and leader.

Bethany Murakami

Bethany is originally from southern California and has attended Bible College at KBC. During the fall and spring she works with Bible College students as the dean of women and she is an excellent counselor and minister. She also is an amazing guitar player and worship leader! Bethany will be participating in Camp Mauka this year as a camp counselor, etc.

Alex Marrow

Alex Marrow graduated from CCBC Murrieta and flew out to Kauai in 2007. He has been here ever since and is now “part of the woodwork”. Alex is on staff at Kauai Bible College and has helped lead and facilitate Camp Mauka for the past few years.

Camp Mauka Interns:

Each summer camp Mauka is hosted in conjunction with Kauai Bible College interns who are a core part to the camp, taking the role of camp counselors. They receive about 2 weeks of leadership training before and after the various camps. Each summer the number of interns vary; usually we have about three to six summer interns.

Calvary Chapel Volunteers:

Camp Mauka also loves to include those who are involved at Calvary Chapel. Besides this, children’s parents can also sign up to assist the camps in numerous ways. If you are a parent and would like to be involved, please contact us!
